THE WATERFALLS OF ANIMAS MOUNTAIN

Water where none existed.

Shot just hours before major flooding hit Durango, and the Southwest in general, on Sunday. After such an intensely dry year, it’s disjointing to have this much rain all at once. It had been raining all night and I decided to take an early hike to see whether the dry cliffs of Animas Mountain - just above my house - were running as waterfalls. Were they ever! I’ve never seen anything like this.

This short video was shot entirely on a DJI action camera and edited in a hurry after a day of pitching sandbags. We’re safe… but nearby neighborhoods are wrecked. As soon as I finish necessary work for the day I’m heading out with a shovel to help dig out!
