AN ONLINE HOME FOR A MADISON TREASURE
I remember seeing movies at the Ohio Theatre as a kid and teenager, back when the theatre was open on a regular basis. Walking up to the ticket booth under the marquee lights, joking with Richard as he took our hard-earned first-job cash and gave us a paper ticket in return… remember, this was in the days before Netflix. I also remember the Theatre’s decline and the unlucky structure fire (caused by an overhead power line) that hastened the decay. Happily, since 2016, a volunteer-run non-profit - Friends of the Ohio Theatre - has been slowly but steadily finding funding, restoring the building, and hosting occasional events, with an aim to bring it back to prominence as a Main Street performance arts venue. Steady on, I say!
With structural and exterior renovations nearing completion and more events on the horizon, the Ohio Theatre needed a web presence. I was happy to oblige with a very classic-feel, straightforward design that utilized existing event and volunteer photos. Check out the Ohio Theatre’s new online home and get ready for their June 28 street party, celebrating the end of the current facade and marquee restoration!
